I Give Up
Just Finished:

I gave up on Merely Magic, at least for the time being. After the first 100 pages, the book just didn't hold my interest any more. I just didn't care about it. I really didn't care whether Drogo and Ninian ended up together or not. I may try it again on a future date, but I need to move on. Reading isn't fun if you have to force yourself to finish a book. There's too many good books out there.

Update:

I think I'm just not in the mood to read. I've picked up 5 books, read the first few paragraphs, and put them back right away. Instead, I think I'm going to kick back and watch a few hours of:

Nothing is guaranteed to get me out of my reading funk better than a few hours of Colin Firth, er.....Pride and Prejudice.

I just recently finished the book (P&P) and I really loved it. I think I'll check out the movie sometime soon. And I can totally understand about not being in the mood to read. I was hoping to get some reading done myself this weekend but nope. LOL.

Oooo The BBC (A&E) version is the best DC! I love Colin in that too, Dev!

I spoke too soon. I went to bed last night and decided if I'm going to watch P&P, I want to watch the whole thing. So, I nixed that idea opened up another book ~ not hoping for much, but I figured I'd read for 1/2 hour and then go to sleep.

I was mistaken. The book I picked up was Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard. I could not put the book down. I think I finally turned off the light about 12:30 and that was only because I found myself getting foggy and I didn't want to miss one single word in the book. Can I just say I want Sam Donovan, the hero, for myself?!

Now, I just want to go home so I can finish it ~ only 7 hours and 45 minutes to go......

    Told ya! *big grin*

(I'm a huge LH pimp, btw! OH I see Bluebird Winter is on your list ... that one wasn't one of my favs, but mebe you'll think differently!)

Zeek ~ Sarah's Child was the first LH I read. It was good but I didn't really get excited over it. This one ~ I just want to jump into the pages and become a part of the story. To be honest, I just want Sam. I am definitely twitterpated by that guy.

DC ~ What Zeek said. The A&E (BBC) version is the best. The movie that came out last year was just barely passable ~ they cut out a lot of the story and took liberties with the ending, which doesn't incline me to want to see it again.

My favorite LH is her paranormal-ish Son of the Morning, although I would call it more of a time travel historical I guess.

I'd also suggest "After the Night".

Oh And you defo must read the Mackenzie series!

Oh and Heart of Fire! LOL!

I've heard good things about the MacKenzie series too. I'll be popping over to the library again tonight ~ I think I may be picking me up some more Linda Howard....

3 hours and 40 more minutes until I can go home to Sam.......

heee! Her latest ones are not near as good as the oldies, imo. Damn, I wish I was a newbie again when it comes to LH, those were great reads!

Ain't that the truth! I stopped trying to make myself finish just to feel I didn't waste the money. It's not worth the aggravation. LOL.

Mailyn ~ Isn't that the truth? Luckily, it was a library book. If I'd paid money for it, I'd have been plenty ticked.

Like the new screen name, buy the way.

I hate reading slumps! They're the worst. Though I think I'm having less of them since I've started visiting people's reading blogs. So many good recs!

I have to give LH another try. I read one and wasn't thrilled. I have After the Night in my TBR. If I like that one I'll get Mr. Perfect. :)

Jennie ~ I've gotten so many "new to me" authors since I started reading other people's blogs. I used to stick just with my "must buys". And it's so great when I find a book I can't put down!

thanks! Ames gave it to me on one of her blogs so I changed my name to it. kinda long lol.

I'm thinking of trying to sell the crappy books I've bought somewhere like Half.com or something. No reason to keep the crappers around!

    Mailyn ~

That's what I'm in the process of doing, that is, if I ever get around to finishing cleaning out my piles. I'm either going to half.com, paperback swap, UBS, or donate them to the library. They're just taking up room and collectect dust otherwise. Besides, somebody else might really like them.
