Devil May Cry by Sherrilyn Kenyon

My Thoughts: Finally. Sherrilyn Kenyon has finally written another great Dark-Hunter novel. I say finally because I was sorely disappointed in the last two and thought maybe I was just over the whole paranormal, Dark-Hunter phase. I bought Devil May Cry out of habit because I own all of the dark-hunter novels, so decided to give it a try and just see what happens. I’m glad I did. I was pleasantly surprised.
I enjoyed the instant spark between Katra and Sin (SK really does have a gift at this, when she does it right). And there’s conflict right away. Katra is the daughter of his enemy, Artemis, the woman who stripped him of his powers. Or did she?
I’ve loved Katra since Kiss of the Night (Wulf and Cassie’s story) and was hoping she’d get her own story at some point. What troubled me were Kat’s flashbacks to her childhood and showing Artemis in an almost loving, maternal light. No, no, no, no, no. Artemis is the bitch-goddess. I really hope SK wasn’t trying to soften my viewpoint as the reader and then lambaste me by making Artemis Ash’s heroine!!! She wouldn’t be that cruel.
Back to Sin and Katra. Hot, yes. But, quite frankly it seems like SK uses the same sex scenes over and over and over again. They all do the same thing. They all get hot over the same thing, or something remotely similar. Yadda, yadda, yadda.
Still, I like this one. Very much. Lots of Simi is always a good thing. I hope the next one is just as good.
Verdict: This was Very Good. I cannot wait until Acheron is released later this year. And since it’s Ash’s story, I have hopes that it will be excellent. Stay tuned.

I Fell Again, Sorry
Okay, I fell off the face of the Earth again. I'm so sorry! Last update was two months ago ~~~ after I promised I wouldn't do this again.
I've been reading a little ~ not a lot, but considering the reading funk I've been in, I'll take it.
Manhunting by Jennie Crusie: (will be somewhat sloppy as I've borrowed this book out to a friend and haven't received it back yet).

Manhunting was another good one by Crusie. Kate is a career woman working in the family business. She's successful, but not happy. She's been engaged three times, but has never quite made it to the alter. She's lonely and looking for more, so she goes on a vacation to The Cabins Golf Resort in the hopes of finding that something more. What ensues are some hilarious first (and last) dates, along with her developing friendships with Penny (the girl in the cabin next door), Jake (the handyman), and the owner of the local bar (sorry, can't remember her name!).
I'd say this is a Good Read. I probably won't be parting with this book anytime soon (well, if I ever get it back from my friend, that is)

I really enjoyed this anthology and read it from cover to cover. My favorite story was "Mortal In Mysteria," about Damon (also known as Demon High Lord of Self-Doubt and Second Thoughts) who has done the good deed of letting people believe in themselves. For this, he is is forced out of Hell and back to earth ~ right into Harmony Faithfull's backyard. Harmony is the local minister in Mysteria (imagine a minister is a town full of witches, werewolves, and other supernatural beings). Watching Damon and Harmony's relationship was a fun-filled story and I enjoyed every minutes of it.
Also in this anthology were "Alone Wolf" by MaryJanice Davidson (Good), "The Witches of Mysteria" by Gena Showalter (Very Good), and “Candy Cox and the Big Bad (Were)Wolf" by PC Cast (Okay).

This one was Okay ~ I was disappointed, I admit. I'd really been looking forward to a new JQ book. Granted, this is the first after the Bridgerton series ~ and also this is one of her first attempts (written around the time of Splendid). But, if I didn't save all of my JQ books, I'd probably donate it to the library because I doubt I'll read it again.

I only read the Kenyon story in this anthology and I liked it. Sure it was short, but I thought that the story was told very well ~~ not usually something you get with an anthology story. There was a lot of history between Retta and Velkan packed into this small story. I'd say it was Very Good.

A Hard Day's Night-Searcher
Why I Read It: Because of Sherrilyn Kenyon (I actually only read the short story “A Hard Day’s Night-Searcher”.).

My Thoughts: Short stories are hit-or-miss with me. I like full-length stories better because the author has more time (and more pages) in order to be more descriptive and to tell a better story. Such is the case with the short story A Hard Day’s Night-Searcher. It just felt rushed (which, considering it was only about 90 pages roughly is understandable). I had a longer post about this that I’d done, but I felt like I’d basically summarized the whole story and don’t want to do that to those who haven’t read the story.
I did want to read the other stories in the anthology, but ended up taking the book back to the library because I just didn’t have the time to read it. I’ll be getting it again sometime so that I can read the others.
I’d say this is an Okay read. Let’s just say it was too short, too rushed and the “ILY” came too soon (but then again, it’s a short story).

Obsession
Ok, I have a new obsession. I'm in the last few pages of Lord of Scoundrels and I now must own everything Loretta Chase has ever written. Holy cow. Dain has become a favorite hero and who can't love Jess?! MUST. OWN. NOW. I haven't been this obsessed since I went to every book store in town just so I could own the complete Dark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

I've been reading, honest
I've just been bad at the whole blogging thing. I've read all of Sherrilyn's Dark-Hunter books, some Kinley MacGregor, Lisa Kleypas, Susan Wiggs, Connie Brockway, and the most recent book by Julia Quinn ~ "On the Way to the Wedding", which is the final (sob!) Bridgerton book. I'm currently reading "Married to the Viscount" by Sabrina Jeffries.

This is the first paranormal romance I've read, but it definitely won't be the last. Sherrilyn Kenyon knows how to write! Of course, this isn't the first book in the series so I've started a little backwards but what a great book to start with! Luckily, I was able to get my hands on the entire series so am starting with the first book now.
