Life is too short to read a bad book.

Just Finished:

Why I Read It: Because it was in my TBR pile.

Synopsis: Fate had placed Jordan Richards right in front of Amanda, and chemistry had taken it from there. Things began to get complicated when her ex-lover reappeared in her life--with his estranged wife not far behind. Despite Amanda's growing passion for Jordan, Amanda finds herself repeating past mistakes.

My Thoughts: Ugh. Just ugh. I think I spent the entire time I read this book shaking my head. Even now, I still don’t know why I finished it. The character development was poor, the story jumped around a lot, and I didn’t feel like I finished this book knowing Jordan and Amanda any better than I did when I first started.

Amanda bordered on TSTL (and Jordan wasn’t much better, in my opinion). I mean, really. Her ex-boyfriend goes to her apartment to win her back. He has a heart attack, so she tells him they can try again because she’s afraid that her rejection will kill him???? If that’s not dumb enough, then she doesn’t tell Jordan . The two didn’t communicate. At all. I just didn’t get them. The premise was much better than the story turned out to be.

This was Disappointing. I’m still wondering why I finished it. Maybe I thought it might get better. It didn’t. This definitely does not go on my keeper shelf.

Anybody want it? I’ll send it to the first one who asks for it.

Uh nope, sorry Dev, don't want it. Sorry it was so disappointing. I've only read 3 books by LLM, and they were a vamp trilogy. Probably 5 or so years ago.

Sorry, i don't want it either. I just want to ask you if you were a fan of Linda Lael Miller? I see this author's name a lot, but I just don't like her work... so I'm wondering if I'm missing something.

Stacy ~ This was the first I've read of LLM. She has the McKettrick series that I still may try. I'll try the first one, but but if it's anything like this one, I'll pass on the others.

Nath ~ I've never read her before. I think I must have gotten this one from the Friends of the Library sale, because I can't imagine buying it otherwise.

I think I read one LLM once and it was a loooong time ago. It had something to do with time travel and pirates, iirc. Anyways, my 16 year old self thought it was good, but I'm pretty sure my 28 year old self would not agree. lol.

Sounds like this book is headed to the recycling center! Just as well.

I wonder sometimes how people get books published. I too have read books that were really not good at all and thought "Didn't anyone edit this book?"

Oh SNAP Dev. I remember reading about 5 LLM's in a row in maybe 91 or 92. Brothers? One was a preacher and he gave his girlfriend oral on the kitchen table. Also there may have been a hot air balloon....IDK. Can you believe the things that make an impression? But I lost interest in her and haven't ever read another.

Maybe you can sell it on ebay?

Sula ~ I think I have that one at the bottom of my TBR pile. I'm not in any real rush to read it.

Jen ~ Sounds that way. I'll more than likely give it to the library. Maybe somebody else will like it, you never know.

Lisabea ~ If I don't get any takers, I'll give it to the library. Maybe they can sell it on the friends of the library rack. I'll be trying one of the McKettrick books before I complete write off LLM.

I don't want it either, Dev. A few months ago I read the Clare Westbrook Trilogy by Linda Lael Miller. The books are Don't Look Now, Never Look Back and One Last Look. I really enjoyed the series. It was as funny as heck in places. I reviewed them on BTC if you want to know what I thought of each individual book.

I want to read the McKettrick's series. I'll get to it one day!

    I just looked it up:
    The Corbin Series

    My Darling Melissa 1990
    Memory's Embrace 1986
    Corbin's Fancy 1985
    Banner O'Brien 1984

Just call me Oldie McOld Old. I know I read Banner O'Brien when it came out...my sister sent it to me when I was away at college.

Crystal ~ I'll have to check them out over at btc. I don't want to completely write of LLM because the first book I've read of hers didn't sit good with me.

Lisabea ~ Thanks! I may have to check into these ones too.

Oops ~ since I didn't get any takers, I'll donate it to the library tomorrow. I'm sure somebody else will like it.

dev - I wouldn't waste my time on the McKettricks, if I were you. Uck. I don't get why so many people love her. She's one of those authors that just doesn't do it for me. Sorta like Catherine Anderson.

Marykate ~ Catherine Anderson's books don't interest me at all. I've looked into them, but they're just not my thing.

Sometimes I keep reading books, thinking to myself 'this HAS to get better', and it doesn't, lol.
But there are other books you read, and you KNOW it won't get any better, and you don't even bother. So there must be something about these books that keep us reading. Something redeeming. (Good writing? Interesting character? A scene-stealing canine?)
    ;-)

Brenda Joyce's Deadly series had that effect, Sam. I was compelled to read them because I liked one character. One. I finally tapped into my inner strength and was able to NOT buy the last one. Garsh, she had me hypnotized.

Sam ~ That's about what I did. Something made me finish, I don't know what. Because the book wasn't good ~ I guess maybe the potential kept me reading? I don't know.

Lisabea ~ I've never read Brenda Joyce before, either. Some of her books look good, but probably not this series.
